The Mummy star shares picture from Namibia set
Actress Annabelle Wallis, best known for playing Grace on hit British drama Peaky Blinders, has shared behind-the-scene picture of herself with her co-star Tom Cruise.
The photo shows the 31-year-old actress posing in the desert along with Cruise and other cast members Jake Johnson and Courtney B Vance. “#THEMUMMY in Africa. #Namibia, we are so excited to be here!,” she tweeted. The reboot of 1999 film revolves around an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken away. She is awakened in the current day after years of safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert. It brings with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
The upcoming film stars Sofia Boutella as the Mummy. Russell Crowe, Marwan Kenzari, Javier Botet and Dylan Smith are among other cast members. Sofia Boutella is supposed to play the role of the Mummy while the Gladiator actor, Russell Crowe has reportedly lined up for a cameo to appear as Dr Jekyll, before getting his own solo film. Jon Spaihts who has previously wrote the script of films like Prometheus and Doctor Strange is presently working on the script of the film along with JJ Abrams and director Alex Kurtzman. The Mummy is one of the many remakes planned by Universal Pictures as an effort to create an interconnected universe for their classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, and vampire hunter Van Helsing. Directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script written by Jon Spaihts, The Mummy will hit US theatres on June 9, 2017.
