Anurag Kashyap approaches I&B minister to clear 'Udta Punjab'
A few days ago it was reported that Abhishek Chaubey's upcoming film 'Udta Punjab' starring Shahid Kapoor , Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh has run into trouble with the Censor Board. 'Udta Punjab' focuses on the dark subject of drug abuse in the state of Punjab. The movie was rejected by the Examining Committee due to its expletive-laden dialogues and scenes showing drug consumption.
Unwilling to run the risk of cuts being suggested by the Revising Committee or the Tribunal, the producer decided to skip them altogether and approach the I&B minister instead, stated the report.
The report also mentions that Anurag feels since the movie is based on the drug menace in Punjab, scenes depicting drug consumption and cuss words in this drug-themed drama is justified. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom Productions, 'Udta Punjab' is set to release on June 17.
