Kabir Khan's next to be on 1983 Cricket World Cup victory?
There is no denying that after blockbuster like 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', filmmaker Kabir Khan's name happens to be one of the top three in the wish list of almost every producer and actor in the industry. And hence, Phantom films, co-owned by exemplary filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, is planning to rope in Kabir to direct a film which will be based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. Yes, you read that right. For a filmmaker who has always shown sharp inclination towards espionage thrillers, it would be interesting to see him coming out of a comfort zone and make an out-and-out sports film. If everything goes well, Kabir, after completing his next with Salman Khan titled 'Tubelight' will start working on the cricket film early next year. We don't know how much a cricket fanatic Kabir is in real life, but we know for a fact that he is a bankable filmmaker to reckon with and if he decides to helm the film, he would do nothing short of magic to the subject. And while 'Azhar', which was allegedly a biopic on yesteryear cricketer Mohd Azharuddin, failed to impress the audience and the critics, let's wait and watch what does the film on India's first ever World Cup victory have in store for us.
